Our High School Program of Studies is designed to assist students and families with course selections and long-term educational and career planning. The guide is presented in an online, interactive format; however, a printable PDF version is also available.

Initial course requests will be completed online through the Parent Portal. Contact your school for more information.

Our Middle School Sports Program is held at all 5 Albemarle County Middle Schools (Homeschoolers are welcome as well). This popular after-school program is a partnership between Albemarle County Middle Schools and Parks & Recreation.

Please follow the steps below to enroll your child in Albemarle County Public Schools:

1. Review our admission requirements.
   Albemarle County residents whose children meet the age requirements defined by the Commonwealth of Virginia, along with certain non-residents of the county, are eligible to attend Albemarle County Public Schools.
2. Determine your school attendance area.
   Albemarle County Public Schools determines which of our schools your child will attend based primarily on your physical (home) address.
3. Complete an online registration form.
   Albemarle County Public Schools utilizes an online registration form to collect the majority of information used to enroll your child.
4. Present the required documentation.
   The Commonwealth of Virginia and Albemarle County Public Schools require you to provide certain documents in order to enroll your child.

For assistance registering a child who was not born in the United States or speaks a language other than English, or if the documents needed for school registration were issued in a foreign country, contact the International and ESOL Office at 434-296-6517.

The PowerSchool Parent Portal allows parents, guardians, and other appropriate individuals to view different types of student information as it is entered into the student information system.

The type of information that is available varies by school level (elementary, middle, and high). Information may include: school announcements, attendance, grades, schedules, and lunch balances. 

The portal may also be used by parents and students to manage course requests for middle and high school. For more information about the parent portal and exactly which types of information are available, please contact your child’s school.

Report a student absence

The Schoology Parent Portal allows parents, guardians, and other appropriate individuals of middle and high school students to view assignments and student feedback as it is entered into the learning management system for secondary schools.

Please see our getting started guide to your Schoology parent account for information on accessing and using your Schoology parent account.

Having trouble logging in to your Schoology parent account?

• Are you using the correct login page?
  • The parent login page (https://app.schoology.com/login) is different than your student's Schoology login page
• Are you using the correct username/email?
  • The Schoology username/email for parent accounts is the email address you used when creating your PowerSchool parent portal account.  If you change the email address associated to the PowerSchool parent portal account, the Schoology username/email does not change.
• Are you using the correct password?
  • The default password found in the PowerSchool parent portal for your Schoology account was used to establish your Schoology parent account.  If you change the password once you log in to your Schoology parent account (this is recommended), then the default password found in the PowerSchool parent portal will not work.  You can always use the Forgot your password link on the Schoology login page to reset your password.
• Did you recently create your PowerSchool parent portal account?
  • It can take 24-48 hours after you create your PowerSchool parent portal account for your Schoology parent account to become active.
